Managing your brand when you don’t have time to

Have you ever taken the DIY approach to design work? You know, designing your own logo, posters or marketing publications because you think it’s quicker, or Canva does a good enough job? Or perhaps, you don’t know who to ask for help?

The people I work with are are busy

Either because they are small business owners without a team around them; or they are part of a marketing team, working within a larger organisation. In both cases they often feel they’re being pulled into tasks that aren’t part of their day-to-day responsibilities, and they need some extra support.

Does that sound like you?

I understand the pressure to get information out there quickly, but before you open Photoshop, Canva or (god forbid) Word/Powerpoint take a minute to ask yourself:

  • Is this the best way to communicate with my audience?

  • Is this how I want to portray my business?

  • Is the messaging consistent and inline with my brand and business values?

As a designer, I know that I'm biased but my instinctive reaction to being given a handout that has been put together in Word or Powerpoint is to throw it out of the window – ok, not really but it does make me question how much I can trust the business or organisation. If they’re cutting corners here, where else are they cutting them?

Perception matters, especially when you want your audience to trust you and believe in your business.

This is where I come in.

Whether you already have a strong, existing brand and want to work with someone who understands the value of that, or you’re at the stage of your business where you are looking for a designer to work with you on creating a professional identity; I can work with you to manage all your brand and design needs, raising awareness of your brand, and speaking to your audience in a consistent and recognisable way by working with you from brief to delivery.

Don’t just take my word for it:

‘Leanne understands our school and what we are about. She pays attention to our brand guidelines and understands our tone of voice. As such her materials are always pitched specifically for our known audience and parent personas. Her work has helped us to continue to develop a very clear brand style with key messaging now synonymous with our organisation’.

– Rebecca Mills, Director of Marketing and Communications, Sheffield High School for Girls

I have been fortunate enough to work with Sheffield Girls for a number of years now, and have taken them from Powerpoint run-offs to a suite of clear, well designed marketing materials that showcase all the school has to offer and are easily recognisable as Sheffield Girls’. When the brand is consistently applied it shows a confidence in themselves that matches what they instil in their pupils.

Leanne’s Co is the design department for organisations without one.
